Tannoy to introduce QFlex with digitally controlled beam at PLASA 2008

Previewed at InfoComm 2008, Las Vegas, and at PLASA 2008, in London, Tannoy's QFlex range of self powered, digitally steerable loudspeaker arrays started shipping in December 2008. Highlighted at prolight+ sound show 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany, and will be showing at infoComm 2009, in Florida. Also showcased in Orlande should be the latest VQ systems including the VQ Live. By focusing the acoustical output in the target directions where it is needed Tannoy's new QFlex speaker line up is designed specifically to overcome intelligibility problems associated with highly reverberant surroundings. QFlex will satisfy a host of audio installation requirements such as airports and other transportation hubs, shopping malls, conference facilities, museums, houses of worship and other locations with problematic acoustics. With state of the art algorithms (patent applied for) and dense physical spacing of transducers to defeat the effects of aliasing, Tannoy QFlex is the first product of its kind to realize full range beamsteering capabilities, producing class leading performance for both vocal and music applications. Now a part of the Vnet range of products, this architecturally pleasing system from Tannoy integrates DSP, network control and amplification to provide steering control (+/- 70 degrees) for highly intelligible speech and music reinforcement. An intuitive GUI provides the installer a very straight forward and logical method of system design and optimisation.
